QT#64 – How to Embed Power BI Report into PowerPoint + Create Monthly Maintenance Report Template

In this video, you'll learn how quick and easy it is to embed Power BI reports directly into PowerPoint. All you need is a PowerPoint add, your Power BI report URL and you are good to go...it's as simple as that.

Once embedded you have all the functionality of the original report e.g. applying filters, drilling down and even drillthrough to other pages, but from within PowerPoint. The data can also be refreshed so it's always up-to-date if that's what you need to show.

A cool feature that I really like is the ability to freeze the embedded Power BI report and convert it into an image. This means that you know the contents displayed won't change. This is important if you are adding comments related to the figures to your PowerPoint page as you know the figure won't change and the comments will always make sense. For this video,

I'll also show you a neat idea for creating a PowerPoint template that can be used when creating a monthly maintenance report (although obviously, the concept can be used for any regular, recurring report). This temple can be used as a starting point for the regular report and will speed up the task of copying and screenshots from Power BI reports.
